Audio Tour Project
The Audio Tour at Mount Vernon, with the voice and perspective of the enslaved and their descendants represented, helps to add diversity and inclusivity to the historical narrative. It brings to light the stories and perspectives of people who were often marginalized and left out of traditional historical narratives. It also helps to create a more complete and accurate understanding of the past.
The newly developed additions to the Audio Tour help shape an immersive experience for visitors to Mount Vernon to allow for a more empathetic and compassionate understanding of the past, and provide a powerful and moving way to connect with the history of Mount Vernon and the larger history of slavery in America.
